What Daily Affirm is

Daily Affirm is a free iOS and Android affirmations widget app that puts a fresh, hand-written affirmation on your home screen every day, through a native widget — small, medium and large, plus Lock Screen and StandBy on iPhone. Each language has its own library of 1,050 affirmations across fifteen themes — from daily motivation and gratitude to anxiety relief, sleep, self-care and self-love — and they all work fully offline, with nothing fetched from a server. You can write your own affirmations too, and they join the daily rotation. You can design the widget itself as well: any background colour or a photo, your own or one from a curated gallery, with your choice of font and colours, previewed live. There’s no account, no sign-in and no twenty-question quiz: you download it and the affirmation is just there. Daily Affirm is free to use, with an optional one-time purchase — not a subscription — that unlocks every theme, your own custom affirmations and the theme editor. Each of the seventeen languages is its own original library, written by a person rather than machine-translated.

The short version

Frequently asked questions

Is Daily Affirm free?

Yes — free to download and fully usable, with no subscription and no account. The free tier includes the daily affirmation on the widget and in the app, every widget size, and a selection of the fifteen categories and ten visual styles, supported by a small banner ad. A single one-time purchase (never a recurring fee) unlocks every category and visual theme, removes the banner ad, lets you write affirmations of your own, and opens the theme editor. It starts from $2.99 in the US and pricing is localized per region; there are three price points that all unlock exactly the same thing, so you pick whichever feels fair. Nothing ever renews, and the unlock restores automatically on a new phone.

Does Daily Affirm have a home-screen widget?

Yes. Daily Affirm puts a fresh affirmation on your home screen in small, medium and large sizes on both iPhone and Android, plus three Lock Screen sizes and automatic StandBy on iPhone. The widget refreshes once a day on its own; there’s no need to open the app. On iPhone: long-press an empty spot on your home screen, tap the plus button, search for “Daily Affirm”, pick a size and tap Add Widget. On Android: long-press the home screen, choose Widgets, and drag Daily Affirm into place. The widget matches the visual style you choose in the app, from Minimalist Gradient to Handwritten or Noir, or a theme you design yourself.

Does Daily Affirm work offline?

Yes. All 1,050 affirmations live on your device, so it works with no connection at all, even in aeroplane mode. Nothing is fetched from a server and there’s no sign-in: the daily affirmation appears instantly, the widget keeps updating on flights and subway commutes, and your favourites and custom affirmations stay on your phone rather than in someone’s cloud.

How many affirmations are there, and what are they about?

1,050 hand-written affirmations per language, across 15 categories: daily motivation, anxiety relief, self-love, career & confidence, gratitude, calm & rest, grief & healing, relationships, body image, focus & study, resilience, creativity, parenthood, recovery and spiritual. Each category holds 70 lines, and every one was written and reviewed by a person, not generated by a machine: short, positive, first-person statements you can actually say to yourself. The app serves one each day (with 1,050 in rotation, it’s months before you see a repeat), you can open a category directly whenever you need it, and thirty from each category are free to read on this site.

Can I write my own affirmations?

Yes. Write your own affirmations and they join the daily rotation like any other line: on the widget, in Today, in Favourites and in Share. Double-tap a word while writing to emphasise it, and your personal category gets its own name and emoji. It’s a good home for the phrases that already work for you, and everything you write stays on your device, offline like the rest of the app. Writing your own is part of the one-time Premium unlock; there’s no subscription.

Can I design my own widget theme?

Yes. Beyond the ten ready-made styles, Premium includes a theme editor for designing a widget theme that’s entirely yours: any background colour from a full colour picker, or a photo (one of your own, or one from a curated gallery of calm nature shots), your choice of font, and your own text and accent colours, with a live preview of every widget size while you edit. Save as many themes as you like and switch whenever the mood shifts.

What languages does Daily Affirm support?

Seventeen, each with its own original library written by a person rather than machine-translated: English (US and UK), Spanish, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Brazilian and European Portuguese, Ukrainian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Traditional and Simplified), Arabic, and Turkish. Categories, widget themes and settings are localized too; Arabic runs fully right-to-left, and Japanese, Korean and Chinese ship with fonts chosen for their scripts. The app follows your phone’s language setting, and this website has the same seventeen languages behind the globe menu.

Do I need an account or sign-up?

No. There’s no account, no sign-in and no email to give. Your favourites, preferences and custom affirmations stay on your phone and in its own backup (iCloud on iPhone, Google backup on Android), never on our servers, so there’s no copy with us to delete later. That’s also why the app works fully offline and never shows a login screen. And if you ever decide to leave, you just delete the app; there’s no server-side profile left behind and nothing to unsubscribe from.

Is Daily Affirm on Android?

Yes. Daily Affirm is on Google Play for Android and on the App Store for iPhone, and the Android app is a true sibling, not a port: the same hand-written library in all seventeen languages, the same fifteen categories, the same ten widget styles plus the themes you design yourself, and the same one-time unlock instead of a subscription. Both versions work fully offline with no account required.

How is Daily Affirm different from other affirmation apps?

The biggest difference is the writing: every affirmation is hand-written, and each of the seventeen languages has its own original library rather than a machine translation of the English. Beyond that, it’s a one-time unlock instead of a subscription, there’s no sign-in, and everything lives on your device and works offline. Ten widget themes, or one you design yourself from any colour or photo, let you make the home screen feel like yours, and the only notification is a daily reminder you can switch on if you want it.

What happens when I get a new phone?

Everything comes back on its own. Your favourites, your own affirmations, your streak and your settings ride your phone’s regular backup (iCloud on iPhone, Google backup on Android), so they return when you restore or reinstall on a new phone. They’re backed up to your account, never to us. The one-time unlock comes back too: Restore Purchases on iPhone, or automatically with your Google account on Android.

No subscription, no account — works offline

Most affirmation apps lock the good part behind a subscription, ask you to make an account, then walk you through a 20-question quiz before you see a single word. This one just gives you the affirmation.
